Creative Christian Writers' Blog Hop

Please take a moment to read My Writer's 10 Commandments. This was one of the exercises from this blog. To check out other writers' commandments or exercises, use the links provided below to hop around. And, if you haven't gotten in on the creative writing fun, subscribe through your email and get exercises and encouragement delivered to your inbox.

MY WRITER’S TEN COMMANDMENTS

Thou shalt make God first priority and cultivate the relationship with Him.

Thou shalt ask for His guidance in your writing.

Thou shalt vow to continue to learn and become better at writing.

Thou shalt not covet another author’s success.

Thou shalt write only what brings glory to God and not self.

Thou shalt be diligent and obedient with time.

Thou shalt take/make the opportunity to encourage other new writers, taking the responsibility to pay-it-forward.

Thou shalt not neglect the family God blessed you with, sacrificing them for your writing.

Thou shalt learn not to whine when rejections or failures come.

Thou shalt represent thyself in a godly manner whether speaking with a reader or an editor.

  1. Thanks, Paula. I think all writers need to ask ourselves why we write and know our personal convictions regarding that calling.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, LoRee. I have to keep myself in check sometimes - keep the main thing the main thing.

  3. Beautifully said, Paula! In reading all these 10 Commandment blogs, I'm impressed by the parallel's in our goals. Warms my heart to know we Christian authors think so much alike! :)

    1. I know, right? I noticed how many of ours paralleled. Thanks for spreading the word about this little hop. I'm praying other Christian writers will subscribe for the exercises and encouragement.

  5. I have thoroughly enjoyed your Blog Hop girlfriend. Awesome idea as usual. I liked seeing what other writers are thinking. My thinking is relatively simple with 2 rules: Praise Jesus and pass the chocolate!

  6. Paula… ah, this is what comes of "popping in" from time to time, and not on a regular basis. LOVE your idea of the "10 commandments for writers"--it has been very thought-provoking! And being all of the same Christian perspective, it's a win-win situation. I will definitely be stopping back by to see what other gems are being shared… yes, indeed! Thank you so much for starting the ball rolling.
